I was looking at my major skill (wood) and it seems I'm able to increase it to the next level. I have enough magic points and my character level is high enough, so how do I do this?? Thanks!!

You'll have to use a scroll, in this case, Risng Sun. And yes, you'll need a scroll every time you level your major skills (and minor skills).

They drop from monsters that you are elementally weak against.  Your element is wood, so you are elementally weak against metal (metal chops wood etc.).  The drop rate isn't very high, and you may not even get a scroll for your particular class.  Thus, most people buy scrolls from other players via booths.  You will see a lot of booths set up in Sun City Square by the Posthouse Boss.

Actually any monster will drop scrolls, not just monsters that you're weak against. It's just that monsters of your restricting element will drop scrolls of your element.  Metal mobs drop wood scrolls, wood mobs drop earth scrolls, earth mobs drop water scrolls, water mobs drop fire scrolls, and fire mobs drop metal scrolls.
