FAQ: Gameplay
For fast finding use your browser's "Find in page" function, which is most probably CTRL+F.

  • Q) How can i see/pickup monster drops more easily?
    A) Press and hold ALT you will see a side menu opening at the right side of your screen.
When there is anything on the floor near your character, it will be shown in that menu.
You can click the item you want to pick-up from that menu, your character will auto-move to and pick-up the item then.
When an item is picked-up by you or other players, the menu will shift other items to the top, so to pickup faster you can keep clicking the top item in list...
  • Q) My mini-map just disappeared, how do I get it back?
    A) Press the TAB key, this will bring it back.
There are three modes available when pressing tab:

    • To show the mini-map.
    • To show dotted outlines on the mini-map.
    • To remove the mini-map.

    (Origin Reply #15 below here)

  • Q) How can i trade or team with other players?
    A) Press and hold SHIFT+Right Mouse on the other player, and click the icon for the action you want.
The other player will get a clickable prompt on top of the chat to accept or decline your action.
  • Q) How can i send someone a private message?
    A) Use SHIFT+Left Mouse on the name of the person you want to whisper from the online list of players.
or use SHIFT+Left Mouse on the player name in chat. (This was bugged, but is fixed now)
  • Q) How can i see who's online?
    A) Press "S" and use the 2nd tab.
  • Q) How can i find a certain NPC?
    A) Open your map by pressing "M" or clicking the globe icon next to minimap and look around.
  • Q) How can i look around the map?
    A) Hold your right-mouse button and move your mouse to shift the map.
  • Q) Can i look at maps of places im not in at the moment?
    A) Yes, But only from places you have been to before.
Open your Map, click the "World" icon, then click zoom button on bottom.
Now you will see a larger version of the world-map where place names are in yellow.
If you click on a yellow name of a place you have been to before you will be able to see the map of that place.
  • Q) How can i get to the other states?
    A) You can use the 8-arms pass thats accessible from Sun City, or you can use the post house by paying gold.
  • Q) What type of characters can i choose from?
    A) There are 4 types, with each a male and female version, that you can choose from, they are: (Origin >>this thread<<)

    • paladin = very high defense and hp, but low attack.  allows you to fight hand-to-hand without too much worry of being killed, even by higher level mobs, but it also takes awhile to kill the mob.
    • assassin = can do ranged combat with a bow and has very high hit rate and dodge rate, so you will hit almost 100% of the time and will dodge probably about 50% of the time.  the hp is high enough that you also don't have to worry too much if you are hit a few times.  medium damage.
    • priest = summons spirits and other creatures to assist in battle.  good defense, but not so good as paladin, and with the summons this class has the 2nd highest attack power in the game.  this is the healer class and works best in teams.
    • wizard = very high damage and low defense and low hp.  also has access to early AOE spell for killing groups of mobs.  deals primarily in either hit n' run strategies or using a lot of hp potions.  has other spells that do a good job typically of helping you kill the monster before it can get too close to you.

  • Q) How do elements affect my character?
    A) For a nice summary of effects see >>this thread<<.
  • Q) How can i upgrade my elemental skills?
    A) You need to use "Tome's" for your character class and element.
  • Q) How can i find Tome's for my element?
    A) By killing creatures of the element that hurts you most.
Fe: If your major Element is Earth, you should kill Wood based creatures, for a  diagram see:

You will need to hunt the creatures of your weak element that are at least your character level or higher.
  • Q) Is there a bank / warehouse in this game?
    A) Yes there is in Sun City, and all other capitals of states.
  • Q) How can i get rid of "Equipment bound" items?
    A) These are special quest materials used for crafting or the items made using these special materials.
To get rid of those make sure you have finished your quest, then simply sell them at any NPC when you have no more use for them.
    (Origin >>this post<<)
  • Q) How can i bind skills / items to some keys?
    A) Drag the skill or item to a free spot on your quickbar.
There are 3 quickbars available to you. F1-F9, 1-9, W-P
  • Q) How can i switch between the available quickbars?
    A) All assigned keys work even when the bar is not visible, but to show different bars:
Use arrows on the right side of the bars or press "A" to move-up and "Z" to move down a quickbar.
  • Q) How can i change the default skill that's on my Right-Mouse-Button?
    A) Press the space-bar or click the icon, then click the skill you want assigned as default for your Right-Mouse-Button.
  • Q) How can i get a horse?
    A) You can get one free from the NPC in the village you started when you reach level 15.

Note however that this site is for WoQ2 and there are differences with PDO!
    (Publicly mentioned in >>this thread<<)
Here are also some that have been made for PDO:

  • Q) Where/How do i get the "8 Diagrams"?
    A) You only get your 8 diagrams if you make your quests of your state.
These quests have level requirements, so it will take a little bit of time to get all the diagrams and a couple of levels.
    More info in >>this thread<<
  • Q) What are Soul Spar's and what should i do with them?
    A) Soul Spar's are the only monster "drop's" you can get in "The Fairy Realm", you can exchange them at the Skill Trainer for one of the following:

    • Reputation.
    • Gold.
    • Experience.
    • Medicine.

  • Q) What should/can i do with Soul Spar's ?
    A) You should hand them over to the Skill Trainer.
The Skill Trainer will only accept Soul Spar's that are of the same level as the 1st digit, of your character level. (where 2nd digit is not 0)
    Example: You are level 11-20 = lvl 1 Soul Spar's, level 21-30 = lvl 2 Soul Spar's, etc.
Soul Spar's that are lower level as required can be sold to other players or NPC's.
    (Origin >>this thread<<)
  • Q) When will Open Beta start and what will happen to the characters?
    A) Open Beta will start at Sept 10th 2007 and the characters will be wiped at start of Open Beta.
After Open Beta there will be no wipe.
    (Origin >>this post and followups.<<)
  • Q) How can I take screen-shots on PDO?
    A) At current there is two options available. (Origin Reply #15 below here)

    • You can either use "print screen" button which should then save to a folder named "screen shots" in the PDO directory.
    • However if this does not happen (mostly players, playing on vista)  then paste into paint and save or you can use a 3rd party program made available with thanks to our moderator BrokenBokken and this is automatic once set up.
The details can be found on in >>this thread<<.

  • Q) What time zone is the server run on?
    A) Phoenix Dynasty Online is run on the >>GMT -8 time zone<<.
    (Origin Reply #15 below here)
  • Q) What is PP?
    A) PP is the second currency of Phoenix Dynasty. It is an Ancient Chinese coin which can be used to purchase items in game, some which cannot be purchased by gold from some NPC's.
It is obtainable by purchase on the official site or by trading and selling to other players.
(It is currently an unavailable feature)
    (Origin Reply #15 below here)
  • Q) How can I remove sounds COMPLETELY from the game?
    A) (Origin Reply #21 below here)
If you have trouble turning off sounds, and you would like to listen to some sweet tunes, but it annoys that sometimes the game sounds just disturb the music, here is a workaround for the issue. I'm not sure how "legal" this is but it might help some players, of course until the sound bugs get fixed.

    • Navigate to: <DO Install Folder>\Res for example: C:\Program Files\Phoenix Dynasty Online\Res
    • Find the file named "ResSnd.lib" or "ResSnd" if you dont have the "display extensions" option enabled.
    • Rename it, to make it safe rename it into something similar, like: "_ResSnd.lib"
    • Start your client and upon loading the client, it will give you an error about not having DirectSound, etc etc.
    • Press the okay button. Presto no sounds

  • Q) Is there an online help available?
    A) Not yet, you have to do with what we provide you atm
There is however an online help page for this game under its previous name, and is just a minor version older as the one in this games Help directory.
Here is a link that will automatically translate from chinese to english using Bablefish: >>Online Phoenix Dance Help<<

  • Q) How do i chat and what options are there?
    A) I will explain to you using this image, listen good (well ok read carefully)...

    • To start chatting, you first need to press the "Enter/Return" key, that will open the Chat-Line.
Then just type-in the message you want others to read and press the "Enter/Return" key again to send the message.
    • There are different channels that you can chat in.
Those are, listed from left to right, icon's on Chat-Line's left side:

      • Nearby (shortcut CTRL+1 to switch to this mode, or ! at begin of text in another mode.)
      • Local (shortcut CTRL+2 to switch to this mode, or @ at begin of text in another mode.)
      • Team (shortcut CTRL+3 to switch to this mode, or # at begin of text in another mode.)
      • Faction (shortcut CTRL+4 to switch to this mode, or $ at begin of text in another mode.)
      • Nation (shortcut CTRL+5 to switch to this mode, or % at begin of text in another mode.)
      • Shout/State (shortcut CTRL+6 to switch to this mode, or ^ at begin of text in another mode.)
      • World (shortcut CTRL+7 to switch to this mode.)

    • You may use emote-icons using the Emotions icon, or by typing standard IRC smiley abbreviation's.
There are some non-standard icons that use the form (AA) where "AA" are 2 letters, which you will learn quickly when you use the icon from the popup menu that is displayed when you click on the Emotions icon.
    • You may also select player names to whisper to using the "Whisper-Select" arrow, this will show a list of player names that you have whispered to before. It works like a Whisper-to history.
    • You can select which channels to view by selecting the text-icons under the chat-window. (Chat-Filter)
    • You can mute and un-mute channels displayed in the chat-window by clicking the Right Mouse Button on the text-icons in the Chat-Filter. Text-icons that are grey indicate muted channels.

Note to forum-admins:
The forum's discuz-code parser has a bug that does not correctly parse the closing tag for list-code, as you can clearly see.
I always immediately insert a closing tag when i start one before inserting the contents...

*edit*
It seems its related to mixing bullet types. If you use a different bullet type inside another, the parser gets confused.
example:

  • numbered test1

    • default test2

      • numbered test3
      • numbered test3
      • numbered test3

    • default test2
    • default test2

  • numbered test1
  • numbered test1

it's not a bug, trimoon you are only unable to us ...
A feature that is not usable as is, is a bugged feature per definition.
Especialy when it sometimes does and sometimes doesn't work as expected...

Nevertheless thanks for the correction and addition of the others

I'll try to come-up with some Q&A to include that table...
When i or someone else finds a suitable Q&A I will use the URL of your attachment...

Thanks for contributing both!

Whats treanslated there are indeed turkish words, but they don't make any sense at all...
Its not only grammatically wrong but also as content not understandable...
besides links im using are translating a web page, the one you read now, on the fly as a user browses...

But anyway back to topic

That is not completely correct. As Priest I can hold out longer with Mobs like another class. As e.g. an earth priest I have more def  then a Fire, Water or Metalpala. There my Pets attack the Mobs, I can make also damage and need only to pay attention the points of life the/that Pets. In addition I can attack Mobs alone, which the other classes do not try.

Could you post that in the thread where that info came from so the people with knowledge about priests can discuss your opinion?
I can't confirm if this is correct info or not as i have no priest to test it.

So i suggest that discussions about wrong info should be done in the thread the info came from, unless it was provided by me personally

Feel free to post a message here to inform me of a conclusion of correction of the info, because with so many threads its hard to follow new info to listed FAQ answers.

Its not that i don't want to trust your word, but i can't keep changing info with every post of people when i can't confirm self if it is correct or not...
And in your case, people have already corrected info provided by you.
