Comment: PDO is a MMORPG with alot of potential and is really fun to play! I have been playing the game for about 6 months and I was looking for a not too complicated and free MMORPG since I have never played one before. PDO has it all, nice gameplay, nice graphics, cool special effects, team based play and alot of things to do!
Game graphics are pre-rendered environments with mobs and characters presented in a 3D-like manner. Special effects from skills are very nice and pretty to look at, but can be disabled for slow computers.
The game story is set in ancient Chinaand and many of the things found in PDO is from that time. The 5-Element idea gives this game a unique twist on how your character takes shape and your skills and so on.
Leveling in PDO is easy on the lower levels (<50) but gets much harder as the game progresses. Although many see this as a disadvantage, they fail to realise that PDO is not just about leveling, it's about crafting your equipment (armor, weapon, boots, etc.), leveling your living skill as a Weapon Crafter, Jewelry Crafter and so on, farming materials for crafting, farming gold, gettting magic points to level your major and minor skills.
PDO is easy to learn as the game interface is extremely simple, yet intuitive and useful. 21 hotkey slots in total for skills, potions, mounts (horses and special mounts like Tiger, Phoenix and so on), easy access to you characater's stats pages, inventory and such.
Teamwork is a huge part of PDO and you will love it! Many tasks are too hard to accomplish alone, but help is only a key-press away, since the built-in chat is full of people of all levels, many with time to spare to help you. Personally, I hesitated to ask for help, but as I leveled I realised that's just how it works and when you get higher level yourself, you start to help lower levels and it all works out great. This part of the game also helps to make friends in the game, find the right guild for you and so on.
For those of you who love PvP, PDO is for you! Besides certain safe-zones, players are free to engage other players in battle at any time. This is called PK-mode (Player Kill) and enables you to kill other players and possibly get some of their stuff if they drop any. You are "punished" for your killing by means of Wickedness Points which, if they get too high, forces a title on you of Hellion, Rogue or worst - Criminal! You can go to jail to decrease this rating or simply wait (a long time) for it to go away. Bayer is another PvP area of PDO which is where the guild wars take place for the battle of towns, districts and capital of Bayer. Only the strongest people survive here and it's REALLY fun!
The crafting system of PDO is an extremely complicated part which only a handfull of people have mastered so far, but don't let that hold you back - there are numerous guides to crafting the perfect equipment for your character and messing around with it yourself might give surprising results! You can craft anything like weapons, armor, boots, helmet, necklace, rings and guantlets. All these items have certain properties that gives you defence, HP, MP (Mana) and other special properties that all help to defeat your enemies.
In PDO there are two currencies the main being gold which can be farmed from Humanoid mobs and from certain quests and then there is the 2nd currency named Phoenix Points (PP) which you can only obtain by buying it online or selling items to other players for PP. You can buy special, valuable items for PP like Tiger Mount, Phoenix Mount, 100-use HP/MP potions, Exp-adding medicine and gems for inlaying into your equipment to add attack speed, hitting rate (accuracy), damage and such.
Be careful though - PDO is highly addictable ;)
