If you are scared about security, just set your security settings high enough so only your friends can view your profile information.  Facebook is pretty decent for the size it has gotten to.  Originally, was just for college students (back when I joined), now it is a global social networking site.

am not talking about ordinair checks , read the articles i gave up there , but even personal info doesnt bother me i can give you that if you ask , but because of it size facebook is n1 choice for malware and worms to spread through the net , and they not doing much toward it like other simular companies , thats why the site was banned by some countries!

You'll always find malware on the Internet, not much you can do about it except be smart enough not to click questionable links or add anything questionable while on Facebook.  It is somewhat the same thing with email.  As for the security of user data, Facebook took some measures recently to tighten up on that, but I haven't really looked into it that much.  I have not encounted any problems with Facebook, and I've been on it for at least 4 years now.

i saw days ago a documentary about how conficker worm did affect CNN network because of facebook , your right malware and worms can come from anywhere , but am not an expert and the experts says that facebook can put more security or "should" , it is a massively used site thats what make it a good way to spread worms over 5 mill comp got conficker worm wich still inactive , that worm can stream your screen open your cam , keylog your keyboard...etc
they toke some actions lately because countries started restrect them , and they had some law suits , i will wait till serious security measurement are taken.
btw you may think your computer is safe , well worms aint virus they steal data and upload it thro your net , or sometimes not active till spread on more comps!! be carful and do not download anything friends send to you.
